Finding My Pace: Journey of Running a Business, Unconventionally

I’ve never considered myself a natural runner. The idea of sprinting miles, pushing my body to its physical limits, has always felt foreign, even daunting. My approach to health and fitness leans more towards gentle, consistent movement, a slow and steady rhythm that aligns with my temperament. Yet, life has a way of surprising us, of pushing us beyond our perceived limitations. And so, I run when I can.

Not the kind of running that fills stadiums or breaks world records. Mine is a personal journey, a solitary pursuit in my own lane, at my own pace. While professional runners race ahead, driven by competition and the pursuit of victory, I find solace in the quiet rhythm of my own steps. I focus on what resonates with me, what brings me a sense of peace and joy. It’s in this mindful approach that I discover the strength to run longer, better, and with a sense of calm that allows me to complete what I set out to do, with my full heart.

Beyond running, running a business

There’s a profound truth in pushing beyond our perceived limitations. When we accomplish something we believed was beyond our capabilities, we transform. We become a different version of ourselves, one that is stronger, more resilient, and more confident. This transformation isn’t about achieving extraordinary feats; it’s about embracing the challenge and discovering the hidden potential within.

This philosophy extends beyond the realm of physical activity. Just as I’m not inherently a runner, I’ve never considered myself a natural business person. My inclination leans towards the artistry of craftsmanship, the meticulous honing of skills, and the dedication to perfecting my art. Yet, I find myself at the helm of Copylove, navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship.

Again, I find myself running in my own lane, at my own pace. While established businesses sprint towards rapid growth and market dominance, I focus on building a venture that aligns with my values, that brings me joy and fulfillment. This approach allows me to sustain my efforts, to navigate the challenges with a sense of calm, and to stay true to the path I’ve chosen.

But it can all be scary

The world of business, much like the world of running, can be intimidating. It’s filled with jargon, strategies, and the constant pressure to perform. But just as I found my rhythm in running, I’m discovering my own rhythm in business. I’m learning to filter out the noise, to focus on what matters, and to build a venture that reflects my unique perspective.

This journey, like my running, is about more than just achieving a goal. It’s about the process, the growth, and the transformation that occurs along the way. It’s about discovering that I’m capable of more than I ever imagined, that I can navigate unfamiliar terrain and build something meaningful.

Most of all, I have learnt to be myself

The key, I’ve learned, is to stay true to myself. To acknowledge my limitations, but also to embrace the challenges that push me beyond them. To find my own pace, my own rhythm, and to trust that I’m on the right path.

The parallels between running and building a business are striking. Both require discipline, perseverance, and a willingness to step outside of my comfort zone. Both involve moments of doubt and uncertainty, but also moments of profound satisfaction and accomplishment.

Ultimately, it’s not about comparing myself to others or trying to fit into a mold that doesn’t suit me. It’s about finding my own way, my own unique approach, and embracing the journey with an open heart. It’s about discovering that when you do that thing which you don’t think you can do, you become that person which you don’t think you can be. And that transformation, that discovery of hidden potential, is the true reward.

IMPORTANT

I used AI to help me write this, but everything you read – my ideas, stories, and experiences are all my own. AI was just a tool, like a personal editor, helping me to shape my thoughts and say what I wanted to say clearly. I made this with care, honesty, and a clear purpose: to help and inspire other creative people. I didn’t want to make something generic; I wanted it to be my own.

Being a writer in your 20s

It’s alright. Your 20s are not about being a published writer. You experiment. You erase. You edit yourself, not just on the page, but in life. You let your characters be flawed. You let yourself be flawed. You write stories that are half truth, half fiction, and yet fully yours.
